Frequently Asked Questions
Do we need Kinsta hosting?
Yes. It works with your Kinsta site via the Kinsta API. It’s not a hosting plan or a backup service of its own.
Who is Kinsta Enhancer for?
Agencies and site owners on Kinsta who want to create, restore, or delete backups in WordPress instead of only in the MyKinsta dashboard.
How do we install Kinsta Enhancer?
Install Kinsta Enhancer as you would any other WordPress plugin.
- Download the latest Kinsta Enhancer version from your Pine Digital account.
- In WordPress: Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, upload Kinsta Enhancer, and activate it.
What are the minimum requirements for Kinsta Enhancer?
Kinsta Enhancer is fully tested with the latest version of WordPress. We always recommend running the most up-to-date version, but we also support older versions:
- WordPress 6.9+
- PHP 8.1+
- Kinsta Hosting
How do we set up Kinsta Enhancer?
- Kinsta Account → Company Settings → API Keys → Create API Key.
- Kinsta Enhancer → API Key → Add your Kinsta API key from Step 1.
- Save changes.
- Kinsta Enhancer → WordPress Site → Choose your site.
- Kinsta Enhancer → Environment → Choose your environment.
- Save changes.
How do we perform a backup?
- In the WordPress dashboard, go to Pine Digital → Kinsta Enhancer.
- Under API Settings, confirm your API key, WordPress Site, and Environment are set, then click Save Changes if you changed anything.
- Scroll to Backups → Create Manual Backup.
- (Optional) Enter a note in Add Optional Backup Note.
- Click Create Manual Backup.
- When the request is accepted, you’ll see a confirmation. Backups run asynchronously on Kinsta — use Check Status with the operation ID if you want to confirm it’s finished.
- Refresh the backups list to see the new backup once it appears.
You need a manage_options user, a valid MyKinsta API key and a selected environment. Backups apply to the environment chosen in API settings.
How do we restore from a backup?
- In the WordPress dashboard, go to Pine Digital → Kinsta Enhancer.
- Confirm API Settings has a valid API key, site, and environment selected.
- Under Backups, locate the backup in the list.
- Open Restore for that row.
- Choose the Target Environment.
- If the target is Live, type
RESTOREin the confirmation field (admins with the live-restore capability only). - Click Restore Backup.
- When the request succeeds, you’ll see a confirmation. Restores run asynchronously — use Check Status with the operation ID to confirm it’s finished.
Your WordPress user email should match a MyKinsta company user (or the company should have only one user), so restore notifications can be assigned. Live restores require the pde_kinsta_restore_live capability (granted to administrators on activation).
